What Do You Wear Under Your Activewear?

Yoga In HeelsDonna Burke of Atlanta Activewear

Hanky Pankys, Commandos, granny panties or nothing at all? This is a topic that everyone wants to talk about, but no one mentions.  And this isn’t just for the ladies!

Hanky Panky($18) is probably the most popular underwear brand in the industry after Victoria’s Secret right now, they make a really great thong. The carry two styles a OSFA style and a low rise SML style, I like the low rise style best. Great underwear, super comfy but the only problem is the lacey pattern can be seen through you leggings.

Another great lace brand that isn’t as well known is Cosabella ($19). Thongs, boy shorts, lace bras, everything. This brand is fantastic. The lace is slightly thinner than Hanky Panky and has a sturdier feel to it. I fyou like the lacey look and want to wear undies under your leggings, I would put your hard earned money here.

Commando ($20) is a great brand as well. Many people are jumping on this brand as their activewear go to, they are laser cut, seamless underwear made to make you feel like there is nothing underneath. I haven’t worn Commando in a while, but I am sure they are as great as they were before.

Another laser cut, seamless brand is Zobha. Yes, your activewear line, Zobha carries seamless underwear, too. I LOVE these. Small through Xlarge, they lay completely flat and don’t give any panty lines. Thongs ($20) and Boy shorts ($22).

Guys, I didn’t forget about you:

Boxers are NOT OKAY for yoga, just wanted to get that off my chest.  Great options are compression shorts, boxer briefs or 2-in-1 shorts.

If you are looking for a 2-in-1 short for yoga, try the MPG Sport Momentum Short. Made with a 4-way stretch these shorts are going to move in every direction you do. From Warrior I to Warrior III, they will keep you cool and the built in compression short will keep you covered.

A great brand for active underwear is Under Armour. They carry the 3” Short Boxer Jock and the 6” Boxer Jock. The 6” is what most men wear. They are moisture wicking, quick drying and everything in between. If you haven’t tried them, give them a shot, they are $19.99 and any man I know is obsessed with them.

Compression shorts from CW-X are a great option for you as well. They are going to be longer with a full support system built in. Abdominal, Back, Hip, Quad and Hamstring support. Who knew such a small pair of shorts could have such science built in? They will cost you a bit more, but if you have any lower body issues, you should look into it. They also come in a ¾ support tight and a full length support tight.

The great thing about activewear and leggings is that it’s made so you don’t have to wear underwear.  Yes, I said it, you can go commando. Synthetic lace actually isn’t good for you during your workouts, if you are wearing lace underwear, make sure it has a cotton gusset to avoid infections. Cotton isn’t great for you to wear either, as it holds onto moisture making bacteria harbor in bad places. At the end of the day, wear whatever undies are most comfy to you., just change as soon as you can. With my help, hopefully you can focus on your Happy Baby, not your Bunchie Undies…
