I met Kathlin Kleem at one of Atlanta Activewear’s free Saturday morning yoga classes, where she was R-A-V-I-N-G about Tough Love Yoga. I happen to love the TLY ladies, too, but I’ve done a couple of posts about them already and don’t want to show bias. But when Kathlin offered to write a review about the Bikini Boot Camp, something I haven’t attended, who was I to turn her down?
I can’t stop talking about Tough Love Yoga. I have enjoyed every yoga class I have ever taken. Seriously, I have. That being said, I have never loved a class as much as the Tough Love Yoga Bikini Boot Camp. The classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15-7:30 am in the back of Young Blood Gallery in VaHi. The space is ideal. The room is small enough to be intimate but large enough to spread out and get your yoga on. This is a kind and safe environment with fabulous students who encourage and assist each other. Don’t be surprised if you get a round of applause from your fellow students the first time you get into Crow.
Neda is a fantastic teacher and her classes are incredibly challenging. She is very aware of each student as an individual and makes a point to know you, your limitations and your abilities. She starts each class with an explanation of what we are going to do and is always amused by the doubtful (and sometimes terrified) looks she gets from us! Fortunately for us, she moves right along by explaining the basic principles that are going to allow us to achieve these seemingly impossible poses. We do poses I have only seen in pictures…and we are getting into them with Neda’s instruction and often hands-on guidance. What I love best about the class though is not just doing the advanced poses, but everything we are learning that leads us into those poses. I have learned something new about doing a forward bend and have forever improved my posture by finally understanding what “shoulders up and back” really means. I did my first really good chaturanga in this class and I have been taking yoga on and off for well over 10 years! I am also seeing new definition in my arms, legs and abdominals. It really is a bikini boot camp.
This is a great class for anyone who feels bored or complacent in their current practice as well as first timers who will benefit from hands-on instruction and individual attention as they learn.
Tough Love Yoga also offers beginners yoga, metal yoga (yes, they rock out to metal music during yoga!) and special workshops. A 10-class card is very reasonably priced at $90.
If you ever want to review a series, workshop, teacher training, etc. just let me know! Your input is way more valuable than mine!
